Well, after all the hype with LeBron over the summer many people thought the big name players leaving their teams would be over.  Think again.

Carmelo Anthony is involved with a huge trade that will send him to the New Jersey Nets.  Combined with about a dozen or so players, yeah that’s a lot, it will be one of the biggest trades in history.  With ‘Melo a New Jersey Net, it brings them into playoff contention in the weak Eastern Conference. They only need to get to around.500 this year to snag a playoff spot and that is very possible now.

Combined with Chauncey Billups, the Nets will have a few prolific scorers to go along with their young talent.  This is great news for the NBA as these kind of trades draw huge press.

If this pays out as predicted it will allow Carmelo to be in a big city and get his name out there much more than when he played with the Nuggets. Another thing, the Carmelo Anthony Nets jersey will instantly be a huge seller and people all around the state and region will want to buy one.  You will also see people scouring around for a Chauncey Billups Nets jersey to and people will be hopping on the bandwagon so fast it will break the wheels so to speak.

With these new guys and Lopez down though, there is not any team they could not beat on a given night. The Nets will look to mesh with the new players before making a serious run toward the NBA crown over the next few years.

With their new Russian owner, the New Jersey Nets mean business and this is a great example to show that you want to prove yourself to the rest of the league.

I think Carmelo will average around 26 – 28 points a night with Billups getting around 15 or so as well.  The other guys can fill in the rest and Lopez will be a stopper down low in the paint.

It should be interesting to see how the team meshes together in the first few games as it takes teams a while to get it all on one page.  It should be an exciting finish to the NBA season !
