Logan Couture San Jose Sharks

Logan Couture is a center who plays in the National Hockey League for the San Jose Sharks. He was drafted in 2007 and was the ninth selection overall in that draft.

Logan Couture Jerseys Sale

Couture is an imposing player and good puck handler and is known for his accurate shooting. His accuracy is one that was crafted in junior league hockey in Canada. In the 2007 Ontario Hockey League All Star Game, he won the shooting accuracy competition and by 2009 had made his debut in the NHL.  It is good to see a guy this young as an impact player for the Sharks.

I have been a big fan of the teal and black for some time now and even remember when they were an expansion team by in the 1990′s.  I am really showing my age now. I used to always wear their colors and now I might have to get a Logan Couture jersey to add to my collection of 467 jerseys. Yes, no typo, that is how many I have.

During the 2009-2010 season, Couture went from the Sharks’ AHL to the NHL club and was able to make the AHL All Star team. Couture would score his first NHL goal on November 5, 2009 against the Detroit Red Wings and would also score 2 goals in the Stanley Cup playoffs against the Colorado Avalanche later on in the season.

He is having another great year leading the qualifying rookies in total points so far this season. While he may not be like Sid the Kid yet, he is a good all around player that should get some praise. The rookie of the year race should be another close one, but I think Couture could be a good candidate if he continues to play at this high level.

Either way the winter is here and hockey season is under way. Why go out in the cold when you can watch the NHL on TV?

The Philadelphia Flyers Squad

The Philadelphia Flyers are a team in the National Hockey league in the Atlantic Division. They are known for their aggressive, take no prisoner style of hockey, which led them to two Stanley Cups, in back to back seasons. The Broad Street bullies have many rivalries in the NHL, but none compares to the hatred the team has for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

One of the Flyers key players, is center, Jeff Carter. Carter debuted in the NHL and for the Flyers during the 2005-2006 season. He scored his first NHL goal on October 24, 2005 and finished the season with twenty three total.

The twenty five year old has done nothing but improve. He scored an amazing forty six goals in the 2008-2009 season. Jeff Carter has also played on the International level for his home country of Canada. Jeff made his, Team Canada debut in 2003 by winning a gold medal in the IIHF World U18 Championships.

There have been a lot of great players in Philadelphia, including Reggie Leach and Bernie Parent. Leach also known as The Riverton Rifle was a right winger for the Flyers who in the 75-76 season had sixty one goals and ninety one points. Parent was a Goaltender who had his career ended when a stick went thru his eye hole and caused permanent damage to his vision. A tragic event for any body, but especially at that age.

The Philadelphia Flyers retired the number 1 jersey in his honor. In 1984 Bernie Parent was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and in 1998, he was ranked number 63 on a top 100 list of NHL Players of all-time.  A true legend of the sport indeed.

With their aggressive style of play, the Flyers always have a chance to bring a Stanley Cup back to the town of Philadelphia and have all the Philly fans wear their Flyers jersey with pride and respect as they parade around the great town there.

Ottawa Senators Memorabilia

The Ottawa Senators of the NHL are one of the fastest growing franchises in hockey, having opened its doors for the 1992/93 season. The club is actually the second professional hockey franchise to have the Senators nickname in the city of Ottawa. The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were members of the NHL from 1917 to 1934.

The original Senators won 11 Stanley Cups before closing their doors for good. Since the rebirth of the franchise in 1992, the new Senators have been on the rise. The new franchise started out with a 10,000 seat arena and finished last in the NHL their first four seasons. Since then however the Senators have reached the Stanley Cup playoffs 11 out of 12 seasons, reaching the Stanley Cup final in 2007.

Head coach Jacques Martin was responsible for the rise of the new Senators, instilling a defense first mentality in his players. Martin was on the bench for the Senators from 1996-2004, outlasting several General Managers in the process while leading the Senators to the playoffs in all eight of his seasons in charge.

Martin’s lack of playoff success, especially suffering elimination four times in the playoffs against provincial rival Toronto Maple Leafs, lead to Martin being fired in June 2004. Bryan Murray took over in 2004 and is still in charge of the Senators, leading them to the Stanley Cup finals in 2007.

The Senators have had several of the most talented players in the NHL don their jersey, such as current captain Daniel Alfredsson. Some of the most dangerous and effective scorers in the NHL have played for the Senators since their 1992 rebirth, most notably Alexei Yashin, Jason Spezza, Marian Hossa, Dany Heatley, and Martin Havlat. Frank Finnigan is the only Senators player to have his number retired by the franchise. Finnigan was a member of the original Senators from 1923-1934 and was part of the 1927 Stanley Cup team.

The franchises’ uniform and logo has been widely embraced by the fans, with the Roman Centurion of the logo having a huge impact on the fan. The Senators’ fans refer to themselves as the Sens Army and it is not uncommon to see the fans dressed in red and black, some even wearing Roman legion outfits or Ottawa Senators jerseys to games.

While they may not be the best team in the league, you can still see many fans wearing Ottawa hats, shirts and other gear to support their team. Hockey fans are some of the best and reliable followers around.
