With the Duke Blue Devils coming off their 4th college basketball title they have big hopes for another great year led by a strong recruiting class. Led by Kyrie Irving, the Dukies will probably be the ACC favorite again this year.
Irving will be on of the best point guard prospects heading to Duke in some time. At about 6-2 he should remind people of John Wall and other great young point guards that can score as well. He can do some crazy tricks and has many clips on You-tube of his amazing dribbling skills. I think he may be a one and done guy if all goes well this year for Irving.
He should be an instant starter who can led them deep into the NCAA tournament again in the 2010 -2011 season. Besides for his ball handling, he has a good jumper and decent long range. I would not be surprised if the Kyrie Irving jersey is raised first in the 2011 NBA draft and maybe even hung in the rafters at Cameron.
With a smart head on his shoulders he should be a leader on and off the court. Let us not get ahead of ourselves though. He has to produce or he will not live up to the hype. Not all guys live up to their potential for various reasons. I think he has all the tools in order to provide the Dukies with another great team. Injuries are another reason some guys just cannot live up to the hype.
They have guys like Singler, Seth Curry amongst others that will give Irving many options on who to dish the ball too. Coach K will have him play a smart game and not make any mistakes. If you remember how Bobby Hurley played in the Duke Blue gear then you should know that Coach K has his guys play smart games under control.
With November coming up the leaves will be turning and people will be getting their coats out. The Blue Devils really are not much of a football school so the winter is a great time to be at Duke. Looking back I kinda wish I went to school there. Oh well.
Update: With Irving declaring for the NBA draft come June 2011, it looks like he will be the number 1 pick. The Cleveland Cavs have that pick and many sources think that you will see a Kyrie Irving Cavs jersey this fall at the Q. I agree, that a solid point guard is a great way to rebuild that team. Irving as a Cav would make a great start.
