The San Diego Padres kind of fly under the radar out west and do not get the attention they deserve. They also have a great young talent names Adrian Gonzalez.  With the season coming up the fans are getting ready by buying Padres hats, jerseys, shirts and so forth as they will be ready to support their team by opening day.  The weather will be beautiful and many here in the Midwest wish we could be there.

The Adrian Gonzalez jersey burst onto the scene last year as he belted 40 home runs from being virtually unheard of just a few years ago.  He has constantly hit over 30 homers for the past few years and should continue to do so as he is in the prime of his career. Gonzalez might be more well known if he played in New York, but his skill goes noticed by real baseball fans.

I really do not know a lot about their pitchers except they are very young and are relying on youth to get the job done.  Hopefully they can come along quickly and provide enough quality innings pitched to keep them in the game. I hope to make it out to Southern Cal this year but it will depend on the schedule here. It is a great place to visit and I would love to go to a Padre game if I get the chance.

I am not sure they can compete to win the division this year, but I have been wrong many times before on picking the NL West so this year probably will not be any different.

They also have Tony Gwynn, yes that guy’s son, playing center field, so he should be able to provide some great defense and a good bat along the way.  It should provide for some fan support since his father is one of the greatest hitters of all time.
