Pittsburgh used to be the Steel City with all the old mills and factories, but now it is more known for its business and sports teams. The city has thrived and changed while others refused too. The Penguins are amongst one of the best teams in the NHL every year and with the help of Sidney Crosby they should stay that way for a while.
Walking around downtown you will always see a Penguins jersey or Steelers jersey within the city. Both these teams have won the Stanley Cup and Super Bowl respectively. Penguins jerseys are also popular because they just look cool. I have seen toddler jerseys too! That is when you know a city is a hard core fan.
The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Cup last year and Sidney Crosby is trying his best to lead the team to another title. Last time I was downtown I picked up two jerseys, one for me and another Penguins jersey for my ole man, he is a huge fan.
I chose to get authentic hockey jerseys instead of the cheap looking replica ones. I know it was a bunch more, but my Dad likes quality and he also needs a durable material since he seems to wear his jerseys all over the house. Most Penguins jerseys are really affordable if you only need to buy a few in your lifetime. If you collect them, things could get out of hand and the costs could really add up.
Be sure to check out other parts of downtown Pittsburgh. The city is really nice and their is a safe feeling through most of town. There are many sports pubs and bars to check out after the sporting events or concerts. I highly recommend going to the city every week or so and seeing what their is to do. Check out a game or two while you are down there as well.
