Stephen Curry was a star at Davidson while in college and helped put them on the map of NCAA Tournament Cinderella stories. The Stephen Curry jersey will definitely be retired at Davidson, as he is their greatest player ever.   His amazing three point shooting skills allowed him to average close to 30 points a game and put him on the path to be drafted number 7 in the NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors.

Curry has made a good name for himself early in his NBA career.  He is a great shot and fills the shooting guard position well.  He is improving his defense too and is one of the best 3 point shooters in the game today.  The up and down offense the Warriors use really helps him.  Guys like Monta Ellis really allow Curry to play loose and spot up at will for an open shot.

Golden State has one of the best offenses in the league right now, and Stephen is an important part of it.  The only downside is their lack of defense and without being a major market team he does not get the spotlight he should.  Other rookies, such as Brandon Jennings and Ty Lawson, get more TV coverage due to their being on teams that play on national television a bit more.

Davidson’s jersey sales went through the roof because of this guy last year.  Estimates are that he helped bring in millions extra to the university and enrollment was up in the double digit percents after their few years of greatness. While this never made it to the Final Four, they did extremely well for a school with only a few thousand students.

Hopefully he can have that same effect on Golden State hats and jerseys as well.  They need to win a few more games before he can be a franchise changer, but I hope they are on their way.
