Zack Greinke Now A Milwaukee Brewer

Wow.  What a signing for the Brewers.  They got former Royals ace and Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke for a bunch of young prospects that will reduce the Royals payroll and help them build for the future.  It is hard to blame KC for making the trade since he salary is a large portion of their total payroll each year.

The next few years did not look good either, so it was easy to see the writing on the wall.  Major League Baseball is often dominated by the large market teams since the smaller ones just cannot pay enough to be competitive.

The Milwaukee Brewers are now a real contender in the National League and it will be interesting to see how well they do come April.  They already had great hitting with Fielder and Braun, and now they have an ace pitcher to get the job done every 5 days.  If they can just get some solid bullpen pitching, they should compete for at least the division crown.  Do not forget about Weeks and Hart either, as those guys knocked over 25 home runs each last year too.

The Zack Greinke Brewers jersey will be on sale soon and will probably be on many people’s last Christmas list if they can get it out in time.  The Brewers fans really support their team well and you will see on kinds of crazy shirts and hats up there.  It really is a great place to watch a baseball game.

Pitching. Yes, this is where the problem lied.  They did not have a guy have 15 wins and the closer position was not exactly the best either.  They have young talent, but they have to come along some in order to help Greinke out in his first year as a Brewer. Also, he will have to get used to batting, since he did not have to do that in the AL, unless it was an inter-league game of course.

Will he win another Cy Young?  Too early to tell, but this guy will be good.

Yankee Teixeira Jersey

Mark Teixeira-From Journeyman to World Champion

Baseball first baseman Mark Teixeira couldn’t be happier. Has has a home in New York, has 180 million dollars and is a World Series champion. He’s also a New York Yankee. However, his journey to wearing the coveted pintripes has been a long one.

Teixeira was born in Annapolis, Maryland on April 11th, 1980. He was Originally drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1998. Instead Teixeira opted for college and played baseball for Georgia Tech. He re-entered the draft in 2001, and was drafted 5th by the Texas Rangers. After two years in the minors, Teixeira debuted on April 1st, 2003 with the Rangers. His number 23 jersey became a top seller among Rangers jerseys.

Texiera left for the Atlanta Braves in 2007 and changed his Jesey number to 24. Though adored by Braves fans, Teixeira was traded to the Los Angeles Angels of anaheim in 2008. He again changed his jersey number to 25. Teixeira helped lead the Angels to their first win season.

After the 2008 season, Mark Teixeira became the most sought after free agent in baseball. Red Sox nation held their collective breath, due to reports of Teixeira possibly signing with Boston. However, Teixeira signed with their hated rival New York Yankees. Teixeira’s decision came after C.C. Sabathia, and Alex Rodriguez (both who play for the Yankees and signed as free agents) convinced him that there’s no greater honor than to wear the pinstripes.

Mark Teixeira helped the Yankees win the 2009 World Series. No, Mark is no longer a journeyman. He has found a home. He loves being in New York. Most of all, he loves being a Yankee. His new jersey should sell well as everyone in NYC normally supports their players if they want to win and play hard all the time. This city is great and many fans love to be there!

It should be amazing to watch them in 2010.

Atlanta Braves Baseball Info

The Atlanta Braves enter the season trying to get back on track to the playoffs.  They are coming off a decent year where they finished above .500 but did not make the playoffs.  With the help of some good pitching, the Braves jerseys are looking to find themselves back to the division crown or even deeper into the post season.

When the likes of Maddux and Smoltz where there, Atlanta Braves jerseys, hats, shirts all were top sellers in the league. Since it has been a while since their heyday, the Braves fans are looking for some young talent that will carry them like those guys did in the past.  They are well liked in most parts of the South since there are not many teams in states like Mississippi and Alabama, so they naturally become Braves fans.

This year it looks like they will be healthy and guys like Troy Glaus and Chipper Jones should be able to give the offense a boost.  Brian McCann wears his catcher’s jersey proud behind the plate and has some power and average to go along with his glove.

I think the real strength of Atlanta lies with their pitching staff.  Derek Lowe and Tim Hudson suit up their uniforms every 5 days and they should always have a quality start and get the game to the bullpen with a chance for a victory.  Once it gets to the ninth inning, expect to see the Billy Wagner jersey come running out of the bullpen as he is one of the best closers in the game today. He may have his home runs, but when you throw the ball as hard as he does you will give up a few every now and then.

They are in a tough division with the Phillies, but they should be able to compete for a wild card at the very least in 2010.   Not sure if they can win the division, but they should be competitive to say the least.
