Carl Crawford Red Sox Star Now

It is hard for the small market baseball teams to hold onto their stars, as Carl Crawford has just signed with the Boston Red Sox.  This All Star is a 5 tool player that will put  the Red Sox in contention for the AL Crown as well as a possible World Series Ring to go along with it.  The fans up in Boston want this team get back on top where they belong.

Crawford can bat anywhere in the top half of the lineup and has the speed and power to make opposing pitchers go crazy.  He has stolen many bases and often leads the league in triples and stolen bases, with his amazing speed on the base paths he can easily score from 1st on a double.

The Red Sox are paying him 142 million over 7 years, which will probably end his career in Boston. The 4 time All Star has earned it and will help Boston get back to the championship hunt.  They could even be favorites in the AL East now, but I am sure the Yankees will have something to say about that.

It looks like you can pre order a Carl Crawford Red Sox jersey now and I might have to get in line. You know I like to save money on buying jerseys, but I do not think I can use my tricks to find a used one or cheap one here.  Most of my tips for finding cheap sports jerseys are for players that have been with a team for some time. Unfortunately, that is not the case here with C. Crawford.

While his bat will help them, pitching wins titles and they still need to perform on the mound or they will not be able to get back to the World Series. It will be interesting to see what other moves they make before spring training starts in April.

Dustin Pedroia is Boston’s Chosen One

Dustin Pedroia plays second base for the Boston Red Sox. Pedroia was born in August 17, 1983 in Woodland, California. He first played quarterback for his high school freshman team. A broken leg kept him from continuing football his freshman yea, so he turned to freshman baseball. Even with an injured leg, Pedroia was considered the best player on the team.

Pedroia continued playing baseball throughout high school and went on to play baseball for Arizona State University. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2004 as the 65th pick. After 2 years in the minor leagues, Pedroia made his major league debut against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He became the Red Sox’s permanent second baseman in 2007. That year, he also won AL Rookie of the Year award. Today, Pedroia’s #15 jersey is one of the most popular selling Red Sox jerseys. He is good friends with everyone on the team, and especially close to first baseman Kevin Youkilis, and Designated Hitter David “Big Papi” Ortiz.

Pedroia has not played for any other professional team other than the Red Sox. In December of 2008, Pedroia signed a 6 year extension with the team, with an option for a 7th year in 2015. The passionate Red Sox fans have embraced Pedroia, and he has embraced them. Hem remains one of the most popular Red Sox players in Boston. Imagine if he never injured his leg. Imagine if he never played baseball. We could very well be cheering for Dustin Pedroia, quarterback for the New England Patriots. Perhaps at first, Pedroia didn’t choose baseball. Thank goodness baseball chose him.

He has gotten off to a good start of the 2010 baseball season and the Dustin Pedroia jersey should again be a top seller this year for the Sox.  He is a great talent and many people are just now learning to see how much of a star he is going to be.

Red Sox Jerseys | JD Drew

David Jonathan Drew, also know as J.D. Drew is an outfielder for the Boston Red Sox. He wears uniform number 7. He was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1997 but ended up playing for the St. Paul Saints of the independent Northern League. Then in 1998 he was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals.

J.D. has also played for the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He played his college ball at Florida State University. In 1997 he won all kinds of awards, including the Dick Howser Trophy, The Golden Spikes Award, he was named Sporting News and Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year and was a consensus All-American.

This year’s Red Sox team still packs plenty of offensive punch. Playing with Drew are players such as Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Jacoby Ellsbury and David Ortiz. And their pitching remains strong with Josh Beckett, Jon Lester, John Lackey and closer Jonathan Papelbon.

An odd fact about J.D. is that his brother Tim was also drafted in the first round in 1997. They are the only brothers ever drafted in the first round in the same year. And his other brother Stephen plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Another odd fact is that J.D. is one of only a few players who does not have music playing as he steps up to bat.

Although scouts had always compared J.D. Drew with Mickey Mantle and Stan Musial because of his swing, he’s never let it go to his head. He has always been a quiet, hard worker. That’s a trait that’s hard to find in today’s “up and comer’s.”

Most of his hardcore fans have his sports jerseys from when he played with those other teams, and surely most will know get the Red Sox JD Drew jersey to complete their collection.  It should be a good year for him and I expect big things.
