The Tim Lincecum jersey is probably one of the top selling jerseys of the SF Giants in the past few years. This guy is a CY Young winning star who is loved by the fans. He gets results and is a great young talent that has many good years ahead of him.
I should mention they also have another great young pitcher in Matt Cain. Also, Barry Zito can still bring his awesome curveball to the mound every 5th day, so watch out for this staff as many may consider them one of the best in the game.
Led by Lincecum, the Giants should be able to compete in the NL west and could make a deep playoff run if things go well.
On the offensive side of the game, Pablo Sandoval is a great hitter who is a 3 category guy who can hit for average and power. He is a bigger guy that does not look all that impressive, but wow, this guy can be a star and could be around for decades if things go his way and he lives up to his potential. Just do not expect him to steal a lot of bases.
Overall I think their pitching is the key to success. If their big 3 guys can log a bunch of innings they should be able to win the NL West and continue their path onto the World Series. I am not sure if they can score enough runs to compete with some of the other teams, but it could be interesting.
When you play teams like the Phillies and Cardinals you are going to have to score runs and pitch in order to beat them in a series. Just doing one will not get the job done very often. That is why they play the games though, to shut me up.
