Well if you saw the press conference last year you saw that Harrison Barnes is helping North Carolina and Roy Williams rebuild and get back the the National Title game. With all the talent they had a few years ago they were bound to have a slightly off year. With 4 or 5 guys getting drafted you really will have some trouble keeping the same talent on the floor. UNC just reloads though and beginning in the fall of 2010 you will see the Harrison Barnes jersey on the floor for UNC.

Barnes is a 6’8” or so small forward that can run the floor, shoot, play defense and do almost everything. He reminds me alot of Evan Turner and is a very similar size. Besides for all the physical attributes he is very intelligent and works hard. A true student of the game he will be a good fit at Carolina where the basketball history runs deep and you do not put on a North Carolina jersey and disrespect it by doing something dumb. Barnes seems to have his head on his shoulders and I think he will eventually be the best player out of this class.
In times past most freshman really did not contribute as much as they do now. Many of these players could go pro right out of high school but the new rules allow for guys to be one and done. I am not sure Barnes will leave after the first year as I think he can fill out some and get stronger. The NBA is a much different level and guys need to be bigger, faster and stronger even more so these days.
I figure UNC and Duke are the favorites once again to win the ACC and have thier banner raised again. Duke is coming of a Title and UNC is hungry to get back what they had the year before that. Should be an exciting season come this November.
Update: Barnes has decided not to enter the NBA draft and will return to the North Carolina Tar Heels this fall. The baby blue and white should be good again!
