Chicago is know mostly for Jordan and the Bulls since they had so much success in the 1990′s. The won 6 titles so it is very easy to forget about the hockey team in town. The Chicago Blackhawks are a well respected NHL team that goes a little unnoticed outside of the windy city. I think the last player I knew from their team was Jeremy Roenick. He was a great player and was one of the reasons I watched the game. There are still many Blackhawks jerseys in the city today, as the town wants to find a champion and the Bulls are a ways off.
Personally, I have not owned a Chicago Blackhawks jersey since Roenick was there, so I guess I need to update my collection. I remember watching some hockey back in the day when the Anaheim Ducks were new, I really liked them and then they made that movie about those guys too. Well, it really was not about that team really but more like a kids movie.
The Blackhawks are currently leading their division again and are well on their way to the NHL playoffs and maybe a Stanley Cup. San Jose is also very good this year so it will be interesting to see if another team from the United States wins it or if Canada can bring the cup back up north.
Getting a Blackhawks jersey is not hard. All you have to do is attend one of their games and buy one at the stadium. It is cool to see all the fans black out the ice when they all have on the dark jerseys.
I hope Chicago gets another title because it may be awhile before the Cubs finally breakthrough. It is hard not to root for them, but it has been over a hundred years and no title.
