When the kids start playing sports we all know the wallets will have to open up for all the new goodies they are into. Whether it is a hockey stick, football helmet, or cheerleading uniform, once they start sports then we will be forking money over for the youth sports jerseys they need to be on the team.
You cannot play without a jersey so they make everyone get one, which makes since of course. Finding a good deal on these uniforms can be hard, especially if they make you pay the school for the jerseys directly. Then you have no negotiating power and are stuck with hundreds of dollars in youth sports jerseys that could have been had for much cheaper.
I guess the point of that rant is there are always ways to save money, so be careful when ordering and see if you have other options. Talk to the school and tell them sports cost tons of money and this is not helping. Maybe this can cause them to leverage the supplier for the sporting goods and maybe you can get some lower prices. You would be surprised what you can do if you just open your mouth. The squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say.
Most sports are expensive and we have to pay the costs the rest of the year when they are not on the school team. We should be able to get a break with these youth jerseys at least during the school year. Maybe I am bitter, but I like to save money on the kids and save for their college.
Overall, sports are great for kids to compete in and I will always pay for them, but sometimes I think there are ways to cut costs here.
